How the demand response program works

With the summer heat, it's important to reduce stress on the grid when possible. ConnectedSolutions uses electric vehicles to reduce peak energy use, decrease air pollution, and lower electricity costs. Earn a $50 instant incentive and a $20 annual incentive for each EV or EV charger enrolled in the program.

You can participate in this program by installing an electric vehicle charger or using your electric vehicle.

Program schedule

During the summer, electric vehicles will be called:

  • June - September
  • 3 pm - 8 pm
  • No more than 60 times
  • A maximum of 3 hours per event

You can opt out of a peak event at any time by changing your EV or EV charger settings. If the program is not a good fit for you, you may disenroll the following year.

Can I still participate if my EV charger doesn't qualify for the program?

Yes! You can participate with an approved EV charger. If you don’t have one yet, the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, in partnership with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, offers rebates through the PowerUpRI program. This initiative helps Rhode Island residents install EV chargers at home. Learn more at PowerUpRi.
