We understand that the federal government shutdown may have created financial uncertainty. If you're a federal employee, federal contractor, or active-duty military member and you're concerned about paying your energy bill, we're here to help. Support is available—regardless of your account status or any existing payment plans.

To receive assistance

  1. Download and complete the self-attestation form.
  2. Include documentation from your employer confirming that your pay has been disrupted due to the federal shutdown.

Once we receive your materials, we’ll temporarily place a hold on your account for the duration of the shutdown to prevent any negative impacts. After processing, you’ll receive a confirmation email from our team.

You can send your form and documentation securely online, by mail, or by fax—details for all three options are listed below.

As the federal government reopens

Please make any necessary payments to bring your account up to date. How to send us your information

Using our secure platform (Globalscape)

You can submit your completed self-attestation form and required documentation through our secure file transfer portal.

Steps to upload:

  1. Go to our secure file transfer portal.
  2. Select “Upload” to attach your completed form and documentation.
  3. Enter your email address in the “From” field.
  4. Choose “AccountProtections” from the “To” dropdown menu.
  5. In the “Subject” field, enter your service address, including city and state.
  6. In the “Message” field, include your full legal name and phone number.
  7. Select “Drop Files Off” to securely send your documents to Rhode Island Energy.
